Bee Block Exchange

I belong to this awesome Quilting Bee - and we had a block exchange for the year 2011. 13 participants. We each made a block for the other 12 ladies. All we knew was a color scheme and maybe what size they wanted - although some quilters were pretty specific about what they desired.

What a fun day as we each unwrapped our blocks and hung them on the quilt rack. I hope you enjoy looking at the wonderful creations.

Someone Else's Project

Last summer we bid farewell to a family from our church as they returned to the Foreign Place they call home now. Big Sister and Big Brother stayed in The States to attend college, and Little Sister left with Mom and Dad. But she left with a creation from so many of her friends...

Her friends brought some fabric to the Quilt Lady who pieced the pinwheels and embroidered names onto the border blocks. She asked me to help her put it together. So I got to help with Someone Else's Project. Again. I can't help myself!! It is so fun being able to decide where to put certain colors. It is so fun to watch this amazing lady - because she actually FINISHES projects!! (And enters them in the State Fair) (And wins blue ribbons!!) It's so fun to use my math skills and sewing skills to help make quilts.

Little Sister need only wrap herself in this quilt
and from the other side of the world, she gets a hug from her friends.

'Nother Project

This last week I cut out a dress coat for my daughter. Christmas present, promised to her for Christmas 2009.

It took me awhile to cut it out even once I set to work,
because I decided to line it with this amazing brocade.

I had the pattern all laid out for 2 or 3 days, but was afraid to cut into the beautiful fabric. Courage and Bravery won, and the whole thing is cut out and ready to go. Cold enough this week that she may actually NEED a warm coat.

Time to wind some bobbins and get going.

New Project(s)

I can't help myself. I just keep getting new ideas and wanting to try them out. So I start new projects. (Cut out a dress coat for my daughter this week. Pictures later.) And then I have FRIENDS with ideas (and fabric) who need a designer - so I help OTHER PEOPLE start projects!!!

This week it is a Grinch Quilt. My friend purchased all this awesome fabric. A few of the fabrics had larger pictures from the "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". We cut those out and laid them artistically on the pool table. Then we just started putting frames around the pictures. I don't think we even second-guessed the original arrangement we had!

And this quilt is just FALLING TOGETHER!!!
Here is a 'cell phone photo' -
A little fuzzy, but you can see the amazing colors and interest.

I can't wait to see it finished.
More pictures to come as we progress....
